AFA expresses disappointment with pace of negotiations at United

United and AFA have been in negotiations for a joint post-merger CBA since August 2012. In August 2015, AFA filed for mediation, and the first mediated bargaining session occurred in October. AFA has described United’s scheduling proposals as “unacceptable” and “concessionary,” while denying that the union is “cherry picking the best of the best.” AFA scheduled a “day of action” for December 17, calling on its members to picket at several airports throughout the UA system. AFA also announced that United had rejected its proposal to meet in December without the mediators.
