IAM District Lodge 141 Officer Relieved From Duties Pending Audit

Within the IAM, airline employees are primarily represented through one of two District Lodges, 141 or 142. District Lodge 141 represents nearly 40,000 employees at Hawaiian Airlines and Philippine Airlines (clerical, below- and above-wing), Spirit (below-wing), American (mechanics, stores and below-wing) and United (above- and below-wing). Secretary-Treasurer, David Atkinson, is 141’s third highest paid officer, with an annual reported salary plus disbursements in 2014 of over $157,000. Among other duties, he is responsible for keeping a correct account of the finances of the District Lodge.

On January 28, the IAM announced that Atkinson has been “temporarily relieved” from his duties pending an audit of the District’s financial office.

This follows the July 2015 announcement that District Lodge 141 had been placed under the supervision of the IAM Grand Lodge Transportation Department “due to the inconsistent enforcement of collective bargaining agreements, membership servicing deficiencies and the misapplication of contractual provisions.”

January 28, 2016:
