Southwest Flight Attendants Approve Second Tentative Agreement

Southwest flight attendants, represented by the Transport Workers Union, approved their second tentative agreement after negotiating for more than four years. The agreement was narrowly ratified by 53.86% of the voting flight attendants. The new agreement has been controversial among Southwest flight attendants because most of the prior contract, except for pay, remains unchanged.  The three year deal provides a 6% increase date of signing (DOS) and 3% each year thereafter.  It also provides a signing bonus equivalent to 15.9% of the flight attendant’s eligible June 2013 to August 2016 earnings.
