Prior to the Delta merger, IAM represented five work groups at Northwest – Passenger Service, Fleet Service, Flight Simulator Technicians, Stock and Stores Employees, and Office Clerical. All five workgroups of the combined airline rejected IAM representation.
Having had no luck with any of the groups it previously represented, the IAM turned its sights to the flight attendants, a group it had never represented or sought to represent at Northwest.
To date, the IAM has not explained how it ended up submitting to the NMB purported authorization cards that were not actually signed by the named flight attendant. Regardless, it continues to solicit Delta flight attendants for authorization cards.
